Hi,
My name is Ryan Smalls and I am writing to
say thank you! I just recently survived a slide in the Alaska
Range while helicopter skiing. I purchased the system before the
trip because it was recommended by my guide. I triggered a
category 2.5-3 hard slab slide on my first turn of the day and
rode it top to bottom with no injuries and was completely
unburied. I stood up and skied away, replaced the canister and
kept skiing!
I am forever grateful for all the hard work
that was done to develop your life saving product. I have two
young children that will have their Dad around largely due to
your great contribution to the world of snow sports.
I have already convinced dozens of friends to
purchase the Abs system and will always endorse your packs by
sharing my story.
The guides at Chugach Powder Guides are to be
commended for encouraging all their clients to wear your packs
in the field.
If there is anything I can do for you that
would result in more people making your packs a permanent part
of their backcountry arsenal, please do not hesitate to ask.

Attention: Keith
On March 20, 2008, I was riding at Eagles Pass in 18-20 inches
of fresh snow. Myself and my cousin were hill climbing on
a slope towards Turtle Mountain, when I was caught in a slide.
I was roughly 2/3 of the way up the hill when I got stuck.
My cousin had made it over the top and when he came back down,
the hill let go. I was on the downhill side of my sled
when I was hit by the snow. I was tumbling under the slide
and everything was dark. I grabbed the trigger of my Avalanche
pack and the bags inflated. Two or three more tumbles and
my feet broke the surface. When I stopped, my head and
chest were fully exposed. Thanks to the Avalanche pack, I am
here today to tell this story.

ABS Saved my life
So last Thursday I was taking an avalanche 1 class in Big Sky
Montana and it was a class for snowmobilers. A guy that we had
worked with was giving the class to the crew. On the
second day of the class
we went out into the backcountry to dig some snowpits. Well we
had got over 2' of snow that night which made it hard to focus
on the class while we were up there so we took a few breaks so
that we could go and ride. On one of our breaks, 3 of us headed
over to a bowl up Buck Ridge, as we were looking for a way to
get into it we noticed that we were standing on a cornice, at
about that some moment the cornice broke taking me with it.

I feel about 30 feet until I hit the ground. As I sat there
hoping that the slope would not slide, it started to move. I
then Deployed my Escape 30 and swam for my life. With a car
size piece of the cornice in from of me I could not get around
it. After about 10 seconds it stopped, bringing me to a stop
behind it at its base while snow started to pile over me. The
tops of my bags, my head, and my arm were the only thing out of
the snow. The two guys that I was with watched the whole thing
from above as the cornice broke a foot in front of them. The
orange bags were easy to see they said as they watched me float
down, staying on the snow's surface. The Avalanche had about a 2
foot crown, 75 foot wide, and went about a 100 vertical feet.
You can see pictures and hear the advisory on
mtavalache.com. These guys are big believers in the Avalanche system
now and it would not suprise me if they got in contact with you
guys. Sincerely, Aaron Eilers

Avalanche Airbag is a life saver
Hi there my name is Dale. I was just recently in an avy on mar
22 09, I heard about your guys help in refilling for some pics.
Well I would just like to say what a great product! After my
buddy died about a month ago from an avalanche in Owls Head, me
and my crew decided to get some gear. I am the only one who
purchased an abs bag, which i thought was alot of money. Now
after this experience I'm gald I did so! My slide happened in
the Blue Lake area. It scared the hell outta me but am thankfull
I'm still here. From what I was told I had that thing deployed
in no time flat. It was pretty big, went across the mountain a
long ways and in some parts went wayyyy further down than where
i was. Anyways just thought I'd share my experience of my first
avalanche with you guys, thanks for your time and hope to here
from you some. THANKS -Dale
